Meet The Members: Phoebe Rose Sandford

by redcurrantcollective

We’ve asked each of the ten RedCurrant members what they’ve been up to since graduating from Tisch and what they are looking forward to doing with the Collective in the next year.

Pheobe Rose Sandford (or “The Weeb” as her dad calls her) is one half of our Administrative Team. This past summer she spent her time dancing for Naomi Goldberg-Haas and Marie Alonz Snyder. When she wasn’t dancing, she was teaching tweens and teens, imparting all her choreographic wisdom to young artists.

Currently, Phoebe is interning with Monica Bill Barnes, whom she has identified as her idol. Being in that fresh-out-of-college state, she runs errands and generally acts as a sponge, trying to soak up everything she can. Phoebe Rose wants to eventually put into practice for RedCurrant all the nuances of creating and producing dance that she has picked up along the way. In addition to her internship, Phoebe is also working with TaraMarie Perri towards her Mind Body Dancer™ yoga certification. She is Supta Baddha Konasana-ing her way to joining Claire and Liz as RedCurrant’s third yoga instructor.

Like most artists in NYC, Phoebe also has a non-dancing job; she works at Buddakan, a swanky Asian fusion restaurant in Chelsea. But trust us when we say that her time, energy, and spark are always focused on dancing.

Looking forward, Phoebe is excited for the collective to develop strong relationships with collaborators, solidify a body of work, and get the word out there so “people (besides our mothers)” know who we are and what we’re here to do!

Tune in soon for our next installment. Thanks Phoebe!

Phoebe Sandford has never met a rat she didn’t like. She likes to eat meat pies while winking. Her favorite place to dance is the shower. One day, she would like to dance in the shower without falling.
